Here is what you're getting: Azumi Japanese 1 DVD Import!1 DVD Region FREE -IMPORT! ED10

In war-torn Japan, the Tokugawa Shogun, desperate to restore peace to his people, orders the assassination of the hostile warlords. A beautiful young woman is raised from birth with nine other orphans, to become an assassin. Her name is AZUMI, the ultimate assassin.

Ryuhei Kitamura's 'Big' movie after creating the great 'Versus'. His combination of hyper kinetic camera work, Tarantino coolness, and an occasional shout out to the Shaw Brothers makes his films top ten crowd pleasers. And he has risen to the top of Japanese cinema in just 4 years. So much so, that he has been selected to finally finish off Toho's epic series of Godzilla movies next year. But back to Azumi . triple the budget, bring in top people behind the camera, and use an epic story. The story follows an Orphaned girl raised for ten years by a retired imperial army commander. Their mission: To stabilize the country by assassinating upstart warlords. The glaring difference between this and Versus...is the enormous leaps Ryuhei Kitamura has made in character development. Versus was a fun popcorn romp like ‘Die Hard’...’Azumi’ is an emotional roller coaster like ‘Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon’. While he tried to copy Matrix like camera moves in ‘Versus’ he breaks new ground with a Ferris wheel style cam for one of the fights . later used by Proyas in I,Robot except Ryuhei used no CGI effects in the shot. And while the main character is a girl that can take on 20 ninjas, you can see she is slow but Ryuhei came up with another great solution for that full speed foreground and slo-motion background (kind of like when Jet Li fought in ‘The One’). Fun to watch, Dynamic, and emotionally perfect!

Azumi 2 -New 2005 Release! DVD ED118

Description:

Azumi, after the fun-filled exploits of the last film, continues her travels around Tokugawa Japan with her last remaining childhood friend, Nagara. After being ambushed by more troublemaking ninjas and barely escaping with a stunt that offers no explanation, the two end up meeting with a lord, Tenkai-sama, who seeks them out for a mission against another government official stirring up internal trouble. This time, the villain is Masayuki Sanada, a man with a number of troops, guns, and a couple uniquely powered ninjas at his disposal.

And along the way, Azumi meets up with another rag-tag group of thieves, one of which whom startles her because he looks exactly like her childhood best friend, Nachi. The one she was forced to kill, remember? Oh, and throw in Chiaki Kuriyama as Kozue, another ninja helping out the group and you have a nice little party going.
